DONT YOU JUST PLUG IN A COMPUTER?
A common misconception is that you plug a computer in and it gives you codes which tell you what is wrong with the vehicle. This is not diagnostics.
A single fault code can have multiple causes and multiple fault codes can have a single cause. It is down to the technicians training, ability and skill set to gather evidence and data to formulate and execute test plans leading to a correct diagnosis.
We will carry out our diagnostic assessment which is a series of tests to try and prove what is or isn’t wrong with your vehicle for a fixed price.
Once our diagnostic assessment is complete we will report back with our findings and you can then choose if you would like us to continue with the repair or further diagnostic investigation
What Does Our Tier 1 Diagnostic Assessment Include at SRC Automotive?
1. We start with customer questioning to gather important information about your vehicles’ behaviour and faults
2. Next, we will try to replicate the faults to verify your concern
3. Our trained technicians will then connect a serial data tool to interrogate the vehicles various modules for current and historic faults to determine a diagnostic direction
4. Manufacturer technical service bulletins are accessed to see if there are any known faults or software updates issued from the manufacturer for your particular faults
5. System live data will then be analyzed and a test plan will then be formulated
6. Wiring diagrams and/or manufacturer specific technical information is consulted to enable accurate testing
7. Non intrusive testing of components and systems will be carried out to gather data and evidence using serial tools and basic electrical testing
8. Finally, with test results in hand, we will document our initial assessment of your problem and call you to discuss if we have a fix or further intrusive testing is needed

How Much Does It Cost For A Diagnostic Assessment
Our initial diagnostic assessment is £90 Inc VAT. Once completed we will contact you to discuss the correct course of action and resolution.
Each fault is different so the final cost of diagnosis depends on the number and type of tests required for your vehicle. There may be costs to access manufacturer’s data and technical bulletins this is charged at a cost of typically £30 to £90 depending on manufacturer
If Tier 2 intrusive testing is required this is £120 Inc VAT
No further work will be carried out without authority from our customers.
