EGR Cooler Cleaning Liverpool

What Is An EGR Cooler?

An EGR Cooler is like a radiator, it uses thin passages surrounded by a water jacket to absorb away heat and cool the exhaust gas flowing through it before it is recirculated through the engines intake.

The role of an EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) Cooler is to cool the returning exhaust gas that flows through the EGR valve and reintroduces it back into the engine to lower NOx resulting in lower emissions.

It also aids in the engine warm up phase, maintains smooth and efficient engine operation, reduces ‘diesel knock’ and keeps combustion cylinder temperatures in check.

Correct operation of the EGR Cooler & EGR valve is critical to emission related systems such as the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter).

Over time carbon soot deposits will adhere to the walls of the passages creating a restriction in the exhaust gas flow.

EGR Cooler Cleaning Process
The EGR Cooler is inspected and pre weighed, then immersed in a specialist solution in our temperature controlled ultrasonic cleaner where it will go through a cleaning process.

Once the cleaning process is completed the EGR Cooler is then dried, inspected and reweighed.

The EGR Cooler will be refitted along with new gaskets and seals and then re-adapted to the vehicle.

As with all of our fault finding diagnosis we provide documented and photographic evidence of the before and after process

How Much Does It Cost?
To clean an EGR Cooler costs £180 Inc VAT this does not include removal of the cooler or return postage costs if sent to us
